Profile

As artistic director of the CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival, Al Rae wears many hats: performer, writer, planner, programmer, and patron saint of chaos. Al has appeared on CBC's Comics!, Comedy Now, Open Mike with Mike Bullard, and in 2000 he won the Just For Laughs National Homegrown Comic Competition. He has written for the TV sitcom Big Sound, CBC Radio's political satire The Muckraker, and his short film Toy Soldiers played 20 international festivals, winning best short film at the Sudbury Film Festival. Al writes freelance pieces for the National Post and contributes regularly to CBC Radio. He is the host of CBC Radio One's Summer Comedy Summary as well as That's Capital, a personal finance show for people like Al, who know nothing about finance.
